How do I edit the footer to change the email address?

Well thats easy:
Open the theme footer file on edit mode in WordPress admin
Then
Find (ctrl+f) -> paste email address -> edit it!! -

That does not work, someone already edited the footer but can't find the right file with the info already wrote. Could anyone else suggest something?
