Can't change permalink for love or money

    I recently created a post called SOME-TITLE. Then I lost track of that and started again, and since I was using the same title as before, the permalink came up as SOME-TITLE-2. I went back and deleted the posts for both SOME-TITLE and SOME-TITLE-2 and started the post from scratch, again using the same title.

    This time, the permalink came up as SOME-TITLE-3. When I changed the permalink to just SOME-TITLE and clicked on “OK”, the permalink switched back to SOME-TITLE-3.

    Is there some way that I can get WordPress to use my original title as the permalink (SOME-TITLE)? The software seems to think that I have forfeited my right to do so!
