I have had wp-ms working three virtual subdomains for several months. Two of the working sites were migrated, and the third one was created on WP 3.0. I created the fourth site and it's listed but when I go to edit the backend the subdomain is not being served. I use subdomain URLS blog1.example.com, blog2.example.com etc. I already did the wildcard thingee in my DNS and I set up wp-config and .htaccess as per the network thingee. From what I can tell those settings cover all the blogs. so shouldn't I just be able to make up new virtual subdomains whenever I feel like it?
I thought ms was supposed to make creating new blogs really trivial.
What am I forgetting?
A url to your blog so we can go check. ;)
http://comix.dorkage.net works
http://dorkage.net main blog works
http://test.dorkage.net new subdomain fails
Not sure what this adds but here it is. thank you.
That's weird.
I went to http://thisshouldntexist.dorkage.net/ and got the same hanging chad, as it were, for the subdomain and then a failed to open page.
I'd say it's the DNS not setup right, and check the server error log.
Ah well it works now. Whatever. I guess I was just impatient.
On some hosts it takes a wild for the subdomain record to propagate.
And if I know the URL I can ping it, & it will tell me if that's set up, is why. ;)
Yep, I was just being an idiot, as usual. But it kept me from doing any actual work on the blog for a while. :)
Productive procrastination FTW. ;)
