Hello, I am probably missing something really basic here.

I have installed a fresh copy of WP and followed all the steps to make it a network version. All is well except I can’t make another site.

Say I make a site that I want to call phonebook for my domain example.com. I follow the steps but I get a malformed address.

    http://example.comexample_com_1phonebook

It appears I have missed some step to get the leading slash for the new site’s subdomain. I believe I followed all the instructions but clearly not. Can you give me a hint as to where I should begin looking for my error?

    thank you…

  • You on Dreamhost? Did you use a One-Click onstall for wordpress?

    OPen up the wp-config.php file./
Scroll down to the very bottom.

    Look for $base = yourdatabasename.

    Remove it.

That fixed it. Thank you so much for your help. I was wondering if one-click would cause problems, but I didn’t see any reference to it anywhere I was reading about WP Network. Thank you again.

I was wondering if one-click would cause problems, but I didn’t see any reference to it anywhere I was reading about WP Network.

Becasue it’s Dreamhost specific, not WordPress.
