[resolved] Can't add new images to new server after move (5 posts)

I moved my files from an old server to a new server, using these instructions:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

All my old images are showing up, though they're still linked to the previous database. This is not a problem. But I cannot add new images. If I try to add a new image to the Media Library, I get this error message:

    Error saving media attachment.

When I try uploading a new header in Twenty Ten, I get this error message:

Unable to create directory /var/www/html/le/mccordworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I know for a fact that my MySQL database is in order; just verified with my webhost. What did I miss with my migration and upgrade? Oh, yeah, I did the upgrade almost simultaneously. I didn't want to, but that's how it happened.

    Both problems are completely unrelated.

All my old images are showing up, though they're still linked to the previous database. This is not a problem....

Yes, it is. It slows your site and you risk all your images disappearing for several reasons. Be sure you moved the uploads folder to the new site, and then use use Search RegEx « WordPress Plugins for changing image URLs through posts and pages or see Find and Replace Text in WordPress MySQL Database When Changing Domains.

...Is its parent directory writable by the server?

That's a completely different problem. Use FTP to check the permissions on your uploads and wp-content folders on the new server: Changing File Permissions « WordPress Codex

Problem 1: I tried uploading the Search RegEx plugin, activated it, but cannot find any way to access it. According to its directory page, it isn't clear that the plugin is compatible with WP3.0. And I cannot reconcile the provided link with my MySQL database interface. I know some languages, I don't know others. Regardless, both servers are with my very reliable webhost. This is a minor problem I think I can tackle later.

Problem 2: I checked my permissions against my newly-moved blog against a couple others I have. They are identical. I cannot understand why I'm having this problem. I'm really just at my wit's end...

Problem 2: Okay, I was checking the wrong permissions. Still not working yet, though.

Under Media settings, I changed the "Store uploads in this folder" to the default, instead of the terribly long path name that was there. And now it works.
