Ive done a "one click install" via Dreamhost of wordpress to blog.thebelife.com. Now I'm trying to FTP a downloaded theme to the wp-content/themes folder, and it uploads successfully as I can see it on the FTP server, but they wont show up in my themes on my WordPress Admin. I just have the 50 or so themes that come with WordPress.
I feel like this problem has a "duh" solution, but Im stuck..
Thanks!

I just have the 50 or so themes that come with WordPress.
WordPress ships with a couple of themes. Dreamhost must have added the rest. Wow! That is a lot of bloat though.
I imagine that your problem with the new theme is a permission problem. Check the permissions on the other themes and make sure the one you uploaded matches. You may also need to check the owner and group for the new theme, and probably need help from Dreamhost to do that. Just a guess though.
Did you upload the Theme properly? Do you see \wp-content\themes\my-downloaded-theme\, inside of which are the Theme files?
If so, then the problem could be the Theme itself, especially if you got the Theme from a random, third-party website.
I would recommend:
1. Deleting the uploaded Theme
2. Using the Theme uploader built into WordPress to upload the Theme:
Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes -> Add New Theme -> Upload
And then report back with any errors you receive when trying to upload using this method.

@Chip - I dont show an option to "Add New Theme" in the Themes section of the CP. Heres a screen shot of what I see LINK
I had this theme installed on my blog before, but then reopened the blog in a sub-domain and now cant get it back up there...
Are you running WordPress with MultiSite enabled?

No idea! Is there an easy way to check and see?
