    Hi,

    My website is skintnation.com

Installed Multisite however when I set up a subdomain for example test.skintnation.com, when I click on Dashboard, it just goes to a page that says "page not found"

I followed all the instructions regarding wp-config and .htaccess. My .htaccess file looks like this:

    addhandler x-httpd-php5-cgi .php

    # BEGIN WordPress
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ wp/$1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

When I set up a subdomain like test.skintnation.com do I also need to set a subdomain on my hosting as well?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

I am brand new to this multisite malarkey also so the only thing i can say from my experience is if you used a software installer does it allow sub domains as well as sub directories? And does your host allow wildcard subdomains?

Hopefully one of the big boys will come out to play and be able to help you.

'www' although very common, is just another subdomain of your site. Just like 'test' is. So, yes you do need have DNS set up.

You don't appear to have it set up:
    http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=dnsrec&host=test.skintnation.com

You may like to read up on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildcard_DNS_record. Or not :)

    Thanks for the help guys.

I've set up DNS for games.skintnation.com and it's still not working. Do I need to call my hosting to set up a wildcard subdomain?

What do you mean there's no access? Do you not see the link to network admin or ...?
