Can't access other files on my site (5 posts)

    Hello,

I just installed WP 2.7 on the root of my server. Unfortunately, I can no longer access other directories / files on my domain.

I'm guessing there is a setting in the admin section somewhere to correct this?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Installing WP shouldn't impact your ability to access other files/directories on your website. If you installed WP in root, then maybe you are seeing WP when you connect to your url...which you should see since it's in root. But, you should be able to browse to any other location like normal and you should still see everything there through http://FTP...of course, of you had an index.php in root for some other app then the WP index.php may have overwritten it.

    This is odd...

I changed the name of the original index file before installing WP to the root. After I installed WP to the root, it created a new index.php of course.

After that took place, I was unable to access any of the other directories or content on that server. Kept getting a 404 message.

I just went back and changed the name of the index file that WP created, and reinstalled my original index file. I can once again access the files / directories. But when I change back to the WP index file again, I can't access the data / directories again.

Could this have something to do with the theme I've chosen?

Yep - changed the theme and all is well.

    Thanks for your comments Figaro.
