Can't access other blogs - need htaccess (2 posts)

    Hi guys -

    something is very wrong with my wp installation and it just happened and can't explain why. All of a sudden I get 404 page not found errors when I try to access my other blogs. I look in the htaccess file and the old wp- portion of the code is now no longer there. Adding back in what I used to have still doesn't seem to work. The articles themselves appear properly with permalinks (I'm using category/title for the URL generation.)

    When I pasted in the basic, it doesn't seem to allow me to properly enter the other blogs. Some other funky stuff is happening and perhaps someone can assist. here is my htaccess.

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    It used to have this:

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^.*/wp-admin$
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ $1/ [R=301,L]

    ------------

    My guess is that this problem is related to why my media uploads are not showing the correct path either and I can't upload media properly.

    This is the problem. As opposed to what is in the codex, it should be:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    AuthName "myaccount"
    AuthUserFile "/home/myaccount/.htpasswds/public_html/passwd"
