This error appears each time I try to visit my site:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /hermes/bosoraweb097/b2086/ipg.cantchoosecouk1/wp-content/themes/responsive/functions.php on line 37

How do I get rid of this and get my site back to normal?

Have you been editing the theme?

    Yes.

Not a good idea. You will need to download a new copy of the theme to your local computer and then replace that file using FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server.

Once you have that fixed, use a child theme to make changes to your theme - otherwise you will lose all of these changes when the theme is updated.

Is there no other way to fix this error? Please help!

No, not unless your hosting company will delete that theme for you - then you would be able to reinstall the theme from the Dashboard.

BUT in that case you would lose any changes you have made to theme files.

I haven't made any major changes to any of my theme files so I think that I will contact my web hosting company. Thanks for the help by the way.
