    when you are trying to access your site's homepage what does your browser say? Does it say, for example, that it caused too many redirects or something similar?

    I just joined too and I'm having a similar problem. I used hostgator and created an account about an hour ago. I was in such a hurry to get wordpress up I didn't actually check the site builder. WordPress installed fine with no problems at all. But when I click the link in the email that leads to my site it says "page not found". I read something about having to wait 48 hours before the *something* propagates if you get a new DNS. Does the same thing apply if you have a fresh hostgator account?

    @yasminhowell:

    In you root directory, check if you see both index.php and index.html (or index.htm) files. If you do, rename the index.html file something as index.htmlHOLD.
