• I am setting up a WordPress site. I inadvertently closed the email account associated with my WP admin panel, and now I can’t access it. The reason: I attempted to change the password without realizing that the email would be sent to a defunct account. What can I do? I’m frantic!

    Read http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

There are directions for when you can’t get it emailed.

Thanks, but I cannot get into the Admin Panel to make those changes. I can’t enter my own site to change the password. I entered the site last week to change my password and waited for it to be emailed to me. BUT, I didn’t realize that the email that the new password was being sent to is defunct – so I’m barred from entering my own WP site.

    Can you help?

Keep reading the link. It has how to do it if you can’t get into admin-panel. Like via SQL or phpMyAdmin.

it’s a FAIL. I’m not techie enough to implement this….
I went into C-Panel and clicked on MySQL but nothing looks like the description in the link you provided.

    help?

So try via FTP or the emergency password reset script.

There are multiple methods listed on that page. Try ’em all. And if you’re not techy enough for ANY of them, you’ll need to get someone to go in for you. And no, I don’t do that. Other people here may.

Thank you again. I’m sure I can’t execute the instructions, but at least now I know where they are. I’ll start looking for someone to help me out.
