Tried making a simple, one-line change to admin-functions.php (to change thumbnail size) and it screwed the goose. The thumbnails didnt change, and now when I try to log-in to site admin I get the following error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare check_admin_referer() (previously declared in /home/yaddayadda/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php:227) in /home/yaddayadda/public_html/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 468

Yet we already reloaded original, unmolested admin-functions.php file and it still ain't working? Help??

That's because you didn't restore the file you think you did. You used a file from the wrong version, or an already modified file, or something else.

Try restoring it again, with the correct version. If you don't know what version of WordPress you have, look in wp-includes/version.php.
