I am having a problem unzipping the backup files. I have saved each one to the computer, but WinZip, WinRAR and UnZipLite all do not recognize the files as being Zip files. Any ideas? My site has crashed and this is the only backup I have!

Sed, I cannot even log into WordPress.com right now because of the internal server error I'm getting. Only way I can access any files is to go to GoDaddy and the FTP file site.

For other information, the zip file were missing as obviously yahoo filters zip file ... then please use the rename exetnsion parameters if you do not received the zip file (but all the other one i.e. z01, z02, etc.)

    SedLex,
Thank you so much for all you have done to help me out! It was a problem with Yahoo filtering the zip files. Once we were able to get the zip via FTP everything worked perfectly. I was able to fix my website using the backup. You are a life saver!

    Hello Sed.

Just a quick question? I did a force backup of my entire site yesterday. I did ask for it to be sent to my email. But! it was 75MB in size which is too big for attachments. I'm guessing. So downloaded the files from the Backup scheduler interface. I put the compressed file in a folder on my c drive called WP Backup. I tried to unzip it in WinRar and kept being asked where is z1, z2 etc. Which I had in my downloads. It started extracting but took a while. So had to leave it as it was late. So do I put the z1...files in the WP Backup folder with the compressed zip folder and extract them back to the WP backup folder?

I have to restore my backup as my site went down yesterday. So I need to restore it if possible. Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

To extract the files they have to be all in the same folder ... Then put the zip file and all the other files z01, z02. ... In the same folder

    Is there an issue ?

Yes Sed I'm afraid so. I put the zip folder and z01,z02 etc in a folder on my hard disk. Extracted the zip folder with Winrar. It kept asking me where was z01 etc file. So I had to click on each of those files for it to extract. File z03 was corrupt so it would not complete the extraction.

Could you copy here the complete name of the files ?

    Here you go Sed.

I think the files extracted. But I get two errors appear when I tried to access my localhost. The one I think I fixed. The other I couldn't.

The name of the zip file and the name of the other files should be the same ... Why it is not ?

The name of your zip is C:\WP Backup\BackupScheduler_230513.zip while it should be C:\WP Backup\BackupScheduler_20130523131948_620ocb80g8.zip

I suppose you rename it ... It was a bad idea :)

Right! Can't rename it back to what it's meant to be then? I know I created a folder with the backup date (230513) to put the files in within my WP backup. So in future don't rename the zip.

    Thanks for your help.

And you cannot rename the other files ?

  23. Robdog75

I didn't rename the other files Sed or are you saying I can? But it does explain why I was being asked where the z01 etc files are when I tried to extract it, when the zip file name was different. I was having a bit of a nightmare with my website hence trying to restore it. I have already started rebuilding though as assumed I can't recover it. It's not that big so won't take me long.

    Thanks for the guidance.

You can do whatever you like if at the end and before extracting the files, they all have the same name :) That is all
