WordPress Backup to Dropbox
Cannot start (at all) after stopping at 99% (14 posts)

I've used WordPress Backup to Dropbox on a lot of sites, and it has been woking just fine, but I have one (important) site, where the plugin broke in some strange way.

It happened after a backup-cycle, where it went to 99%, and then stopped/never finished (it stayed on 99% for days). I then stopped it manually and after that, I haven't been able to start it again. You can see a video of the problem here: http://cl.ly/2L0d1v433k0p

    I've tried to:
    Unlink dropbox accont and re-link
Deactivate the plugin, delete plugin data and files, reinstall plugin
    Delete logfile
    Delete backupfolder in dropbox
Change subfolder in where to store backups
Exclude all but one file (robots.txt)
Update to WordPress 3.5.2 (from 3.5.1)

    Info about my setup:
WordPress Backup to Dropbox version 1.5.5
    Wordpress version 3.5.2
    PHP version 5.3.19

By the way cron is working fine elsewhere, and I have tried:

    <Files "wp-cron.php">
    Allow from All
    Satisfy Any
    </Files>

I really hope you can help...

    Gday mate,

That is usually a problem with wp-cron not working.

    Do scheduled posts work?

    Cheers,
    Mikey

Ahh, sorry I mixed this post up with another.

The 99% problem! This can be because your site is quite large and the initial estimation is incorrect. So it looks like it's stuck on "99%" but it's actually still processing files.

How many files do you think you have on your blog?

It's an ok big site with about 400-500 posts or so, but that shouldn't take days to backup? - I left it for about 2,5 day and it still said 99%.

Then I stopped it manually and after that, I haven't been able to start it again. You can see a video of the problem here: http://cl.ly/2L0d1v433k0p

    Gday mate,

That could be because WP-Cron was processing a different task when you scheduled the instant backup.

It does not like doing to many things at once so sometimes it can take a few minutes for an "instant backup" to start. Hmm... maybe I can add some sort of feedback to let users know there will be a delay.

How did you go. Did you get a successful backup completed?

    Cheers,
    Mikey

    Hey Michael,

No I'm still getting the exact same error: http://f.cl.ly/items/3M0m0u2a2d0W0Y3x3F0w/ScreenFlow.mp4

It's like the plugin just won't start, no matter what.

Hello, I has the same problem today. It was my first back with this plugin.
    99% from 15:00 h. to 16:30h. (for only 23 MB).

Maybe du you have to wait more hours or days when your Webpage is bigger.

Well I have the same 99% problem, I can restart it, but I have no error message. I started a backup 4 days ago and today I discovered it wasn't finished... Definitely, there's a bug somewhere.

I have the exact same problem. My backup get stuck at 99%. i logged in to my VPS and the CPU usage went to about 50% when i started the backup. After almost a half hour later the CPU usage is down to 0%. I do not have a backup in my dropbox folder (i have bought the ZIP extension).

I hope a solution comes soon.

It looks like your server is running out of memory during the DB dump.

I have seen this problem before but am unsure of what the exact cause is. :-(

    More investigation is needed.

I thought it was the manual backup that cause the problem but no, the scheduled backup has the same issue.

Both manual and automatic backups use the same process.

I need to add some more logging to the next version to get to the bottom of this issue.

Any more information on your server setups would be a great help.

Do you have any plugins with large tables that the DB dump could stall on?
