If you are having trouble with it, try a different meta tags or SEO plugin, there are others to choose from.

Here’s a good site for checking code:

It validates fine. this is a meta tag issue.

If it validates, then your meta tags are fine. If the plugin is causing errors when adding/editing meta tags, then it is a problem with the plugin. If it validates in W3C and metatagscheck.com shows errors, then it’s likely a problem with metatagscheck.com.

Cannot Read Meta Tags – Take II

I created a new blog for a friend who buys gold. I have done WP and tags before on another site and used Headspace without any problems.

When I try to run the report from this site it shows errors
    http://www.metatagscheck.com/metatagscheck.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.morecash4gold.biz&submit=Check!

When I try to edit the tags with Headpspace I get 404 errors.

    the code validates fine.

The website is a new install on Godaddy. I removed it and reinstalled and am getting errors on the default WP site after WP is installed.

anyone else have ideas of what is the problem?

The free checking tool you’re using primarily looks at the meta-description and meta-keywords tags. You don’t have either set – which is why the tool is reporting an error. There’s nothing wrong with what you do have (other than you’ve managed to incorporate the meta generator tag twice). Nor are meta-description or meta-keywords that important these days as Google, and more recently, Yahoo, no longer bother with them.

OK, so how can I add keywords to this site which is intended for buyers local to south Florida? I want to add tags such as county & city names and area codes so that if someone where to Google ‘Gold buying 954’ the website I am working on would be in the list?

    There’s a couple of options:

    1. Modify header.php to use custom meta fields for the meta-keywords and meta-description and then add these custom values on a post-by-post basis.

    2. Modify header.php to use post, page or category titles for meta-keywords.

    3. Look for a plugin that does one of the above
