I just went to my media section, and for every upload attempt there was a file.
When I clicked “view” I got an 404 error.
Have you tried uploading a smaller image.. say 1024 wide or 800 wide and of smaller file size?
The image I tried to upload was 400×600 pixels, 356 kb.
The upload bar proceeded, the word “crunching” appeared.
When I hit “edit” – just to try – I could see the image.
But when I went to media and clicked “view”, it showed me the name of the image and nothing else.
I have the same problem with 3.1.3. It should be solved in version RC 3.2, but that doesnt work for me.

This addon should solve the problem to: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hotfix/, it didnt work for me though.
I havent been able to upload images for months now and its kinda enoying. 🙁
The description of the hotfix doesn’t mention that it’s to repair the image upload bug.
“Fix a bug that caused post_status to malfunction if passed an array”.
I’m not a programmer, so I don’t know what this means.
One more detail.
When I upload an image to the media library and click view I only get to see the image caption and title.
When I click on that, I get a 404 error.
When I click edit in the library, I can see the image.
But I can’t see it in “view”, and I can’t post it.
Nobody has an idea on how to solve this problem?
It’s hard to run a photography blog without the ability to post images.
Well how about somebody taking the time to look at the problem?
Or can’t the WordPress team handle the bug?
There is no WordPress team. This forum is staffed by volunteers. And there is no “bug”. This is an issue that is specific to your site. Thousands of people use WP to create photoblogs every day without any problem
There’s another member who posted on this thread who hasn’t been able to post an image for months (if you bothered to read it).
Anyway, I contacted my web hosting company which has excellent service and customer support. If they can’t find it, it’s a WordPress problem that may not occur with most users – but which DOES occur.
Anyway, I found different blogging software I like better, so we can close this discussion as unresolved.
It’s really not worth my time.
