cannot install themes (newbe)

    succesfully installed wp on localhost linux mint machine.
    However, when I try to install another theme get error

    “Could not create directory. /home/rudy/www/wordpress/wp-content/upgrade/arwebstudio.tmp”

    tried to change rights on wp-content directory but nothing seems to work.

    Anybody can help me? new in Linux and WP

    Why not just drop the unpacked theme folders into wp-content/themes?

    Hi,

    I tried this, but the themes don’t show up in the theme management window. Is there something else that should be done? pressing F5 doesn’t help, even stopping/starting browser or rebooting computer doesn’t change anything. Clear Cache maybe or is there something else?

    You are unpacking the theme archives and just adding the theme’s folder to wp-content/themes, yes? Where are you downloading these themes from?

    Hi,
    I’ve used some from the WordPress Genius guide CD and downloaded some from the wordpress site. Tried also the method to unzip them and copy them to the wordpress directory. Unfortunately i’m still stuck.
