Cannot Find WordPress Folders using FTP (4 posts)

I'm taking over administration of a website with the aim of moving the hosting from the current company to one of our choosing in the next few months. The problem that I have is that I cannot find any of the WordPress files or folders.
I've looked at the source code of the home page and can see various files via the links e.g. http://newsite.com/gallery/, http://newsite.com/wp-content/image1.jpg, http://newsite.com/wp-includes/js/admin-bar.js etc but I cannot find any of the folders or files using two different FTP clients.
I've checked the views on both clients and both of them are set to view all files and folders so I'm puzzled why I can't find any of them.
    Any ideas?
If there isn't an simple solution to this, is it possible to find and download all files by using the Dashboard?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The actual content of the site is stored in the database - not in files. See Moving_WordPress.

    Thanks for the quick response.
If I would like to also copy over the core files, images etc. and from what I understand they are stored separately.
If that's the case, I need to find those and I haven't been able to so far.

I've just been told that I have been given the wrong hosting information so that would explain why I couldn't find the files!
    Thanks for your time...
