   I am trying to download the current stable version of WordPress, but it doesn't matter whether I downooad the Zip or Tar versions, I only get 800k downloaded.

   I have tried with MSIE8, Chrome, and Firefox, so it's not a browser related problem.

   The browsers are all showing that the file completed downloading, but obviously it didn't.

   Any thoughts?

   Try clicking one of these links and right click the link and try to save the link as a file on your computer:

   http://wordpress.org/latest.zip
   http://wordpress.org/latest.tar.gz

   Thanks for the help.

   Yes I had already tried that, and despite doing that in Chrome and Firefox I only get 800k downloaded, then the download stops, for both the zip and tar.gz versions of the file.

   I never had a problem before. Wish now I had not deleted the files from 3.0.4 on my hard drive before I tried to download the latest version.

   I don't think it's the firewall here stopping the download, will try it from another location tonight.

   If the problem persist let us know if push comes to shove then we can try to email the files to you.

   I found the problem - my computer was infected. Virus showed up several hours later. No idea how it got hijacked. Assume there is no problem with the download. Looking forward to the latest release when I can get to it.
