Support » Fixing WordPress » “cannot decode raw data”

  • Hi,

I’ve got a slight problem. I have installed wordpress for startuphappy.com and GZIP seems to be acting up. I have googled around and searched the forums endlessly and still have yet to find a solution.

The actual problem itself is pretty simple: I’m getting something along the lines of “cannot decode raw data” on the WordPress admin for both safari and firefox. I googled around, and from what I understand it’s usually something to do with gzip.

No dice. I disabled gzip compression in the wordpress admin and had gzip switched off for apache and php. It’s still throwing the errors at me. The odd thing about this is that it doesn’t seem to be affecting the front end whatsoever. All of the pages for the site are loading fine for me. The server is on PHP 4.3.9 and Apache 2.0.52.

It seems to be random; sometimes a page won’t load and throw the “cannot decode raw data” message, then when reloaded it will load fine. This has come from multiple people and multiple browsers (firefox, IE, etc). I’ve emptied my cache and done all of that business multiple times.

    Anyone know what’s up?
