I have tried for several weeks and still cannot create an account for the codex. Everytime I try it says something along the lines of invalid username.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried just 'Method' as your name ?
It should be straightforward unless Codex is having issues .. -

I was able to do it last night, it seemed i needed to use a capital letter for the first letter of my user name?

Yes, I'm pretty sure that you need to use at least one capital letter.
