hello i need help trying to find out why jetpack no longer connects to worpress.com, tried everything on my end changed themes, changed plugins, tried to get my hosts to look at it and still no joy, i think the settings at wordpress.com are wrong for some reason, i have changed username and password etc, but still no joy.

i was using publicize, and decided to deactivate one of the modules, but then it disconnected jetpack and i can’t get it back, the xmlrpc server is working and everything it just says http error 403

    the site is here http://athertonmedia.co.uk

i have just checked, and on wordpress.com the url point to my domain athertonmedia.co.uk and not athertonmedia.co.uk/wp because none of the links work, except stats. i have a 301 redirect on the domain to make the site resolve to the /wp subdirectory, but this still used to work fine, i think it was just 3.8 that broke it.

what does it take to get an answer on here!

    More patience than 24 hours.

The JetPack support team don’t generally work on weekends (they are employees of Automattic) and they answer questions in the order received. Every time you bump your own post, you’re moving to the end of the line – which is one reason bumping is not permitted on these forums:

Could you try to deactivate any security plugins that may restrict access to your site’s XML-RPC file?

If that doesn’t help, can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

Hi Jeremy i think Carolyn S is dealing with it by email

but it turns out that my webhost doesnt support cUrl even though i have installed woocommerce and it says cUrl is enabled and working with fsopen etc, so i don’t know whats going on at the moment.

    Hi Jeremy,
I believe I’m having a similar problem to Alan. When I updated wordpress, I lost jetpack completely. It doesn’t show up in dashboard at all. But I can’t install it as a new plugin- because it seems to appear that I’ve already installed it. My followers can’t get my updates, and I have no idea how to fix this. I’m sorta new to wordpress, so any simple ideas may help.
    Thanks

Hi Jeremy, I’m still having no luck with this, i have the Jetpack plugin not doing cUrl calls anymore after Carolyn S told me to install it, my host says they aren’t blocking the XML RPC server.

one last try could it be that wordpress is looking in the root of my site through a cache, as i did move it back to it’s subdomain of /wp, or would that not make a difference.

Are you referring to the Core Control plugin, that can be used to bypass curl restrictions? If you’ve installed the plugin, disabled CURL, and still experience issues when trying to connect, could you reply to Carolyn to let her know? She probably has more information about your site than I do, so she’ll be able to help.

the last i heard off, Carolyn S wa sthat if this didnt sort it the core control plugin, then there wasn’t much more she could do.

My host is saying theres an incompatiblity with wordpress 3.8 and their fast CGi module, but truth be known i think they are just clutching at straws as well.

thanks for replying Jeremy, i’ll just have to live without Jetpack, which i thought was the best plugin for wordpress out there, i still do.

I won’t post again so you can close this thread
