   Hello:

   I set up wordpress with a three column layout theme and I want to switch to the 2 column right side nave theme and the layout gets messed up and the style sheet is fouled up. How can I change to the 2 column layout without any problems?

   Well, wouldn't be simpler to download a 2 column theme and make it active?
   Changing sidebars in a theme usually means re-designing the whole theme!
