Cannot change selected category when editing post.

I made a new blog post and was trying to uncheck the default uncategorized label on my post to the appropriate one but it won’t work. I repeatedly clicked on the box and the text but still won’t uncheck. I also tried to check the appropriate category but it also won’t obey the command. What seems to be the problem? Please help.
