Cannot change blog title after 3.4.1 update

    Updated a blog to 3.4.1 yesterday. Today, I typed a new blog title into the title field on the Settings–>General page. The new title is used by the WordPress backend, but does not display on the web. I checked to see if it was local to my computer, but it’s not. I have tried several times to type something new into the title field, and when I save the change, the WP backend recognizes and uses the new title, but it does not get displayed online. How could a blog title get stuck like this?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    OK, the correct title appears in the theme preview for the Twenty Eleven theme. This means my problem is specific to my theme. This theme, Stilo, by Purty Pixels, has some other bugs as well that I’ve been attempting to contact the author about. I will continue to try to get a response from the theme’s author, since this appears not to be a problem with WordPress.

    I hope you get it sorted soon. If not, have a look at some of the themes in http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ If you stick to themes that have been updated in the last 2 years, you should be OK as they will have undergone a pretty strict review process.

    Thanks. Stilo is sold on ThemeForest, and is fairly recent. I think the author needs to do some bug fixing and post an update.
