After upgrading WP and getting a few extra plugins, I cannot move widgets to or remove them from the sidebar, with drag-and-drop. I cannot rearrange their order, on the sidebar, either. The only thing I can do is to remove the widgets with the link provided.
I am using the latest version of Firefox, on Vista.
Anybody can help with this, please?

Hi,
Disable all plugins and have a check with it...and enable plugin on by one basis so that you can find the culprit..
Thanks,
Shane G.
Hi Floriana
I can't help - because I've just added a widget to the side bar and now I can't remove it.
I need to get it off because it's too wide for the panel.
I can't drag and drop anything from the widgets I added
I need help too, thanks

P.S. I also installed Gears, can this affect the ability to move widgets? They show like they are movable, when I hover over them but they cannot be moved either from an area to another or within the sidebar, to change their order. Same happens in IE but there, the drag-and-drop also selects everything, on the page.
Again, I'd appreciate some help.

Me too Floriana...
I am trying to edit the 'category' widget so that it is a list and not a drop down box - but it won't let me edit.
Actually I can't 'edit' any of them that I just added
This is really frustrating
Could someone please help us??

Heather,
I deactivated all the plugins and now, the problem with the widgets is solved. They are moving, the way I want them.
Try to do the same, maybe you have some conflicting plugins or the plugins simply have to be inactive, in order for us to move them.
Hope this helps...

There are plugins that crash the widgets page. As a temporary workaround (until the plugins are updated), try enabling Accessibility Mode from Screen Options on the widgets page. This would switch the widgets from being draggable to having an Add or Edit link to configure them.
Hi Floriana
Thank you - but sadly it hasn't helped me.
I'm afraid I've ruined it now
Thank you anyway
Heather
Thanks azaozz but I can't seem to find 'screen options on my widget page'
Could you please just indicate where I'd go there?
Thanks
Heather
Heather, assuming you're running 2.8, it's in the top/right corner under the Log Out link.

I am having a similar problem - I have disabled plugins and not been able to find a culprit -
My widgets are being placed in alphabetical order automatically, DESPITE the fact that I can drag and drop them into a different order...
Can't figure this one out...

I am using Luke Howell's WP Events Calendar V6.6beta. When the plug in is enabled I cannot move any widgets to the right column. I can add to the left one.
When I disable it, I can move any widget to any location.
If you're using the same plug in, disable it, move all widgets to where you want them and then re-activate the plug in. See if that helps.
I was able to place the widget for the calendar under the left column OK.
