Cannot add links to posts + HTML toolbar shows in Visual editor (related?) (7 posts)

Hi. I am having two issues, and I suspect they are related as they started occurring ta the same time. Could anyone help me figure out the cause?

1.) WordPress' Visual editor shows the HTML toolbar as well as the Visual toolbars. Screenshot: http://joeduncko.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/glitch-2.png

2.) I am unable to add links to my posts in the visual editor. I am able to highlight the text I wish to link, press the link button in the toolbar, as well as insert the link's information. But, when I press the blue "update" button it either refreshes the page, takes me to my dashboard, or takes me to the posts list. I attempted to reinstall WordPress using the built in autoupdater, but that did not work (I didn't really think it would, but I humored myself). I do not know what to try beyond that.

    My plugins list:

Newest plugins: Floating Menu and Slick Social Share Buttons
    Latest update: WordPress SEO

    Thanks in advance guys.

I have the same problem! I am able to highlight the text I wish to link, press the link button in the toolbar, as well as insert the link's information. But, when I press the blue "update" button it either refreshes the page, takes me to my dashboard, or takes me to the posts list. What shall I do????

simabo, so you also have the issue with the HTML editing toolbar showing over the visual editor? I am trying to figure out if my issues are related or not. Please post your list of plugins as well to see if we have one in common that may be misbehaving, too!

EDIT: for more info, it does all the symptoms in post 1 in both IE and Chrome.

Sorry for double post. It appears the issue is with WordPress SEO by YOAST. Turn it off the additional glitch toolbar disappears and I can make links. Turn it on and it recreates the problem. Now for a fix...

Dear MANERS, thank you very much for writing and sorry for not answering before but I'm very very new to publishing posts in WordPress, I have no experience at all in this kind of things, and I don't even know what is a list of plugins!! I also don't know what is the meaning of "the HTML editing toolbar showing over the visual editor" but I don't think I have this problem as my visual editor seems to be ok. And I don't undestand what you mean by "the issue is with WordPress SEO by YOAST. Turn it off the additional glitch toolbar disappears and I can make links. Turn it on and it recreates the problem". Could you please explain it to me in other words???
Thank you very very much for your help! (you can also visit my blog http://www.simabo.org!)

That's very difficult simabo. I have a feeling we are having different issues. If you could possibly take a screenshot I could maybe help. (press your "Print Screen" or "PrntScrn" key while your issue is on your screen, and go into paint and paste it, then save it. Then go and upload it to http://tinypic.com/ and give me the link to the image).

Dear maners, luckily enaugh I tried again today and everything was working perfectly... so perhaps it was simply a temporary problem in the system... Thank you anyway for your attention!
