[resolved] Cannot access MySQL database (7 posts)

I have installed wordpress on one of my websites and no problem; I figured it out.

Now, trying to install it on another site, I cannot get past this:

    "Can’t select database

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the kaylowe3_wordpress database.

    * Are you sure it exists?
    * On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?"

Of course, I HAVE created the database and I did add the prefix to my db, but still get this message. Whattup with that???
    Any help is appreciated.

    Kay

Are you sure that whatever your database username is has permissions to select, insert, update and delete records for the kaylowe3_wordpress database?

If you have SSH access, try connecting to the database using the MySQL client and see if you can access the data.

As far as SSH access, I have no idea what you're talking about. However, as best I can tell my username permissions are set to "all". (I use cpanel)

Contact your host provider and ask them to check permissions.

I am running into this same problem. I do have all permissions for my data base. When I changed my database name to include richm_wrdp1 this is the error message I received: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare check_admin_referer() (previously declared in /home/richm/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php:228) in /home/richm/public_html/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 972

Then when I remove the richm_ from the database name I get the "Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the wrdp1 database." message.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

More info to help resolve my inability to connect to the MySQL database. This is the info recorded in the MySQL database on the CPanel:

    Existing MySQL Databases

    richm_wrdp1
    Users in wrdp1
    richm_wrdp1 (Privileges: ALL PRIVILEGES)
