  • Jason, have you reached out to your host yet? A 500 error is a server error and they should be able to assist you.

yes I have spoken to them they are looking into it. Is it likely to be a hosters issue rather than something in wordpress? Just I cannot access my admin page on wordpress?

My site is doing the same thing. I can’t access anything. Not my site or my dashboard. http://www.sociallyurban.com

Hello Jason. Please try looking at the error logs, they will help you.

How can I view my error logs?

I guess, they must be in “error_log” in public_html since you are on shared hosting.

    Hi,

I’m pulling my hair out here to be honest!! Been searching for days and days for any help via wordpress – nothing. I can’t access my admin area AT ALL. I can’t even get to the login page. I’ve not changed anything – but just went to update my site and have found this error.

Warning: fopen(/var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-keyword-page/install.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-keyword-page/seo-keyword-page.php on line 39

Warning: fwrite() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-keyword-page/seo-keyword-page.php on line 40

Warning: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-keyword-page/seo-keyword-page.php on line 41

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/seo-keyword-page/seo-keyword-page.php:39) in /var/sites/c/claritymc.com/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876

ALL posts and info I have found to ‘help’ all seems based on the premise that one can actually log into the admin area – so is not relevant.

I’m not a developer and no idea what this means or how to fix it.

    HELP me someone please???

    Thanks!

Sorry – per above – site is claritymc.com
    Thanks!

You need to delete or disable the seo keyword page plugin. You can either do this through your cPanel or by using an FTP client such as Filezilla. Navigate to the wp-content/plugins/ folder using either the cPanel or FTP, and then rename the seo keyword page directory to something like seo keyword page.hold, or just delete it. This should resolve the plugin conflict and give you access back into your WordPress dashboard.

    Good luck!

    Will try this tonight @Barnez.
Very much appreciate your speedy help and clear instructions for a laymen 🙂

    Many thanks!!!

After I disabled the seo plugin my site log-in page showed an error message. How can I disable the seo plugin without crashing my entire site? I also tried to change the permalink options to restore my links but now it adds “index.php” in each blog post url. Before everything started messing up my url links only contained the site name and the blog title (ex. http://www.sociallyurban.com/about-us). But now it wants to navigate to http://www.sociallyurban.com/index.php/about-us.

This is giving me biggest headache and I just want my site back the way it was.

Could you give me access over your hosting account?

MODERATED – NO, NO NO. Never ask for access. And never, never give access.

Hi, Ive downloaded filezilla, and have had a good look through the files etc . I cant seem to finf the wp-content/plugins folder. Am i looking in the wrong place or can you give me some direction from here? Any help is very much appreciated!

    @jenniferclaritymc

If you’ve setup Filezilla correctly you should be able to see all your associated directories and files in the right hand file panes. Often you will find your WordPress site directories and files inside the public_html directory (folder), but this can depend on your host. Inside your public_html directory you should find your wp-content directory.

Scroll down this page for a screen shot of what you are looking for.
