• Okay, I am a total newbie here…
I had a web developer create a website for me. It is not live yet, just the staging site so far. He showed me how to tweak little things in the backend.
I downloaded a plugin…and then all of a sudden, everything routed me to the staging site.
Usually, I would go to the staging site, click on the little admin link on the bottom, and it would take me to the backend. I also tried the website staging/wp-admin and that takes me straight to my staging site as well!!! I am FREAKING OUT because I cannot edit or change anything back. I have a hosting site, but there is nothing on it because the site is not live yet. I also do not have WordPress downloaded on my computer. I simply access it only from the staging site.
AM I COMPLETELY SCREWED???!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

  • You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server and delete that plugin. Where is the site hosted? Ask them how to use Cpanel or FTP and then find your plugins folder –

    wp-content
        plugins
FIND THE BAD ONE IN HERE and DELETE IT

If you don’t know which one, then rename the entire plugins folder:

    plugins.HOLD

The site is hosted through HostGator. I have never accessed the site through HostGator though….thank you for your help. I suppose I can just contact HostGator? The plugin I downloaded was Theme My Login because my login widget wasn’t working properly and I wanted to get a new one. Is this plugin no good? Or is it a different issue?

Probably that plugin. Here’s the info you’ll likely need:
