   I was wondering can you install WordPress on a testing server. I am using MAMP(php/sql). I will like to try it out first using my testing serving is this possible?

   This is a good link, but it does not seem to cover how to make a testing server that would live at testing.domain.com, unless I am misunderstanding this.

   If you already have a hosting account at domain.com just use your hosting provider's control panel to create the subdomain testing.domain.com and install WordPress there.
