    Hello,

    Do you have a tutorial page for how your BuddyPress Activity Plus plugin works?

    I have it installed. I can't seem to find a settings pages any where in the back end, to make changes or edit the settings of the plugin. I don't need support I am simply trying to fiind out if I can turn off the "upload" feature so members can only embed media from other sources. Is there a setting page to edit your plugin? Because I don't seem to have one is my download of your plugin

    My reason for asking is that members are uploading media into groups that might not be there own.. and could be a copyright issue. I love your plugin but am considering uninstalling it because I don't seem to have the ability to edit the features.

    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

    Hi @Jeffrey,

    I hope you're well today! :)

    Currently, the plugin doesn't have a settings page. Since the plugin is basically entirely a front-end plugin, it's possible to use CSS for customization, even for hiding some features.

    However, I can't really think of an easy way to hide certain elements based on "specific" groups.

    Perhaps the whole groups url you might be able to hide the posting form elements on.

    If you can provide a URL, we could have a look and see how possible that may be.

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David,

    Thanks for you quick reply.

    I do not want the plugin to allow users to upload content (pic and video) at all on the site. I just want them to be able to embed from other sites.

    Example: On your plugin if you click on a add a photo it opens and ask if you want to "upload a file" or "add image url". I would like to remove the upload a file so they can only embed from other sites.

    My site urls where I am using your plugin is at:

    http://www.portaltaxi.net/music
    http://www.portaltaxi.net/news
    http://www.gaywebsource.com
    http://www.gaywebsource.com/gaypress
    http://www.gaywebsource.com/pittsburgh

    The reason I would like to turn this feature off is some times they are uploading media to groups that they might not be the owner of. There could be copyright issues with that and the way your plugin is set up it hard to monitor the uploaded files. They don't get saved in the media library. You have to go into the activity area to look for them. Hard to monitor them that way. So I would like to turn that feature off.

    Thanks for your help. I did not realize you had so many other plugin, I am going to be tied up over the next 3 days but plan to check them out more. I love what you guys are doing. I love this plugin also. I just would like to turn that part of it off. Most similar plugins for added media you can turn uploading on or off. You my want to consider that with your plugin also. : )

    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

    Hi @pghjeffrey,

    That's understandable. We've had other requests on that before as well, it's just typically easier to hide the buttons than provide a settings page.

    You can actually hide that by CSS with the following:

    #bpfb_addVideos, #bpfb_addPhotos {
    display: none;
    }

    And that could easily be adding using this free plugin:

    How would that work for you?

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David.

    Thanks for the info. I tried your code.. and it totally removes the ability to post video or photos all together. I still would like them to be able to embed photo and video from a url, I just do not want them to be able upload files. Is that possible?

    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

    Hi Jeffrey,

    Could you please try using following CSS code?

    #bpfb_tmp_photo {
    display: none;
    }

    Kind Regards,

    Thank you sir, that worked : )

    I'm planing to start a new area on our site where we are going to review free wordpress plugins at http://www.portaltaxi.net/news

    I think you're able to read my email address. If you email me a list of your free plugins I will do a review on a couple of them, to say thanks for all the help.

    Thanks again.
