Can you change the PRODUCT image directory?

Right now, it seems like product images are stored in a year/month folder under Media.

I would prefer to have all my product images in one folder, say under products, and not use the year/month structure. I’m thinking this because the year/month structure makes it more difficult to do product imports (if you want to re-import entire products you have to remember to move the images, etc.).

Does anyone know of a way to have Product images in their own folder, not mixed in with blog/page images, and not in a year/month structure?
