   I want to add a 'news' and an 'events' page to an existing website, so that only those two pages will function as a blog. Is this possible to do through WordPress? Will I be able to keep my existing design? I have temp pages for news & events up on the website now, at http://primocenter.org/news.htm for your reference.

   any help appreciated!

   Yes, just install WP to the subfolder where you want it displayed, then put a hard link in your main page that links to the url where it is stored. ie:

   http://primocenter.org/news/
