I am thinking of buying a web template from templatemonster and it is a wordpress based template. My question is can a web template like this be edited using something like notepad if I want to change pictures, colors etc? I ask because the website states that photoshop and dreamweaver are suggested and I do not have those.

Absolutely! I Never use anything else but you might be better of using a text editor with a few more features than NotePad - such as TextPad or NotePad++..

Thanks Esmi, I am new to doing this and my company has asked me if I can and of course I said yes. I really appreciate your help. Is this also true if it is a flash. I think I am phrasing this right. I beleive the one that they want is a wordpress web template but has flash images. I hope I am not being redundant but I just want to make sure before I tell them to go ahead the wordpress template.

You cam embed Flash into a WordPress site, yes. There are even plugins that can help but, as always, the right solution will depend very much on exactly what it is you're trying to embed and where.
