can widgets be disabled on certain pages?

I have a slideshow and some testimonials in 3 widgets on my main page which is supposed to be a static one. The widgets appear in all other pages and I can’t get rid of them. I am using suffusion and a picasa slideshow plugin in one widget area and text in the other two. Please help
