can this be done in WP 2.9.1

sorry, don’t know the technical term for the following –

I want to have a post (or a page) that has a table of contents on top and each entry will link to a different part of a page. I have this setup in Word but when I imported it to WP, none of the links worked. Is it not possible to setup ‘bookmarks’ within a post/page and link to them in WP?
