Can the changes to my blog disappear after a change of passwords? (8 posts)

    Hi,

I have done quite a progress creating my blog. At some point in the process I forgot my password and reset it. After doing so, when I log on to my Dashboard all the changes made have disappeared. My library is empty, my pages no longer there, My Blog has been reseted to My Blog... just a template blog with a default theme, instead of the one I had purchased and loaded. I only have the one blog, so there's no confusion in terms of having created/deleted the original one.

Anything helps. This is nerve wrecking.

    Thanks

A password reset cannot cause your site's content to disappear. Is this a wordpress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress install?

It's a self-hosted WP install. I have my domain and host through 2 different providers and I am using the WordPress editor to change my website.

Have you contacted your hosts about this? Do you have a database backup?

Neither. I upload all my files to my FTP, and they are all still there. Including my theme. So I could re-upload everything to the site. Not sure if that's what you mean by database backup. I haven't contacted the host, since all the files are still up there. It's more like WP and my host stopped talking to each other and there's no recollection inside WP of me ever had edited the site.

Your site's content is stored in your database - not in any files. You need to contact your hosts about this.

Ok... I went to my domain provider, deleted my server names and re-entered them. And now everything shows in the Dashboard again. Most have been some kind of glitch with GoDaddy.

Thanks for your help and interest esmi!!!

Most have been some kind of glitch with GoDaddy.

Now why doesn't that surprise me?

Glad to hear that you're up & running again, anyway.
