OK I am a very newbie. I have seen how normal websites have folders with different sections like HTML pages and folders of images etc and i know that these things can be linked to a hosting site and transferred via programs like Dreamweaver and Filezilla.
What I don't understand is how to get the "website" that I created on WordPress.com to become this folder so that I can upload it to my host.
I have downloaded the zip folder from WordPress.org and then followed a UTube video called uploading wordpress
but I think I need the answer to :
Have downloaded wordpress.org file and have been able to upload this to a host site but it says that I should be able to see a install.php section in my wordpress.com . Can someone please direct me where this is or , alternatively, tell me how to get my blogg so it shows as a website?

Even better, where is the step by step instructions for dummies please?

Hello activechangeforlife how are you? When you say that you downloaded the zip file, what program did you use to zip the wordpress website? There are many ways you can backup a wordpress website. Why don't you use xcloner....Here is their website http://www.xcloner.com/. There are instructions there that will guide you and help you backup your website and upload it to another server.

    Kind regards

I downloaded WordPress 3.2.1 zip from WordPress.org . Thanks for the advice. I will give the xcloner a try as long as it has step by step instructions.
    Thanks again mbrsolution

    Hi activechangeforlife,

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you already have a wordpress.com website, and now you want to migrate that website to your own domain that you are hosting elsewhere. Am I correct in thinking that?

If this is the case, I found a link to an article with InMotion Hosting. They're a web hosting company, however you should be able to follow the same basic guides to migrate your website.

Let me know how it works out for you!
