   Can I realign the comment boxes to the left to fit in the left column.

   Try reducing your .widecolumn { margin: 0 0 0 80px; } in your stylesheet or altering widecolumn to narrowcolumn for the page in question (single.php, I think).

   Perhaps also reduce the width of #commentform textarea.
