I am new to WordPress and have struggled with the set up from start to finish. I used Frontpage previously and had no problems but hosting providers are not supporting Frontpage any more. So time to leap into the 21st century I suppose!!!

My issue is that I having installed WordPress (as per WordPress for dummies book) I am unable to preview my site from my dashboard I get Error 403 Forbidden on this server.

I get the same message if I type in my website domain in my browser. Unless I type /wordpress on the end.

WordPress is loaded in wordpress directory in my HTDOCS folder, and my site is hosted using Fasthosts.co.uk.

Please does anyone have any ideas?

    Follow these instructions http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
you already have wordpress in it's own directory so you should ignore step 6, but only that one since the files are already in there.
