I just upgraded from 3.05 to 3.1. Can not open home page. Get the following error:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Can get to dashboard and direct link to other pages.
Would like to be able to fix before having to drop back to old version.

I read in another post that someone was having the same problem and they had disable the 'canonical.php' redirect.
I compared the old file to the new file and saw something about not doing the redirect for IIS. The old has just IIS and the old file iis7.
As my server is a Windows Home Server with IIS6, I thought may be a problem. So I replaced the new file with the old file (only that file). As far as I can tell all pages and post are showing correctly. I am using permalink.
I also want to point out that don't really know what I'm doing, just a shot in the dark.

Have you tried:
- checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 - Master List
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
