• I can make a post in the dashboard & then follow the link to it, but if I go to the main page, there is no button on the top of the page SO that everyone else can get to it. Can’t seem to figure out how to add that button.

I know it must be easy, as I did it on my other blog, but I can’t figure it out, just the same! Thanks, Kevin

  • are you saying you dont have a menu with a button for your blog posts page?
Set your posts page in Settings/Reading. You can create one from a static page or use the default blog-home page. Then, the menu button should appear automatically.

Posts automatically get put on the page you specified to be your “Posts page”. The link to your posts page should be in the main navigation. So if you go to that page you will see your post.

If you created a new Page, then a link in the navigation will automatically get created that links to the new page. But Posts do not get there own link in the main navigation of the website.

OK, I’ve got my “blog” page live. However, it is set up as my home page, as i did this via the “settings-reading” and set the “front page displays” to “your lattest posts” SEEMS like there should be a way to set my blog to be something other than my main page?

Create a blog and a home page, then go back to Settings/Reading. You’ll be able to select them as such.

However, on your menu you’re likely to get a phantom “Home” page tab in addition to your static home page tab, both linking to the same page.

You can overcome that issue by using a custom menu, which most themes allow. You’ll find the settings under Appearance/Menus.
