Can "login" hide?

Hi, I haven’t installed this yet and was wondering if there would be an easy way to “spoiler” the login, so it can be hidden and not take up space on the page if user chooses? Also was wondering if the login can be located somewhere else (like underneath chat or even in a sidebar), so the chat goes all the way across the content area?
