I’m wondering if this plugin can launch a lightbox when an embedded youtube video is clicked?

At the moment we are working around the issue by “faking” the embed using an image and turning that into a youtube link to get it to launch in a lightbox, but it would be a lot easier to have it launching directly from the embed to save us having to create an image each time the video changes.

Hi Keith, no FancyBox needs a link to be launched. An embedded player will not be able to trigger FancyBox.

However, there is a way to not have to create images. You can use the auto-generated thumbnail images stored at Youtube instead. See the answer on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2068344/how-do-i-get-a-youtube-video-thumbnail-from-the-youtube-api for example … use such a public URL when embedding an image and link that image to the corresponding youtube page URL.
