I already have a site using a separate news script, which is quite old (actually, the site I got it from doesn't exist anymore). I'd like to replace it with WP - do I have to create a template/theme to house the news, or is it possible to simply include the latest news on my current home page? I can't find anything in the docs to this effect.
I don't want to convert my whole site to WP or move my content to WP (only the news and site updates, which I will do manually).

After a little more research it seems like I can probably create a simple template that calls my design files I use for the rest of the site. Hopefully it won't mess up with links and stuff.
Has anyone else done what I'm trying to do - merge WordPress into the home page of an already-existing site?
If there's an easier way without bothering with templates I'd appreciate any help! Thanks.
