• I am new to blogging and web design so please bear with me.

I like WordPress for a blog I want to create but also enjoy the design flexibility of IWeb. I have a non .Mac host service so that I will have my site’s name.com instead of web.mac.com/my site’s name.

I know that IWeb will export the site pages to a folder that can be dropped into an FTP (cyberduck). Can I design, for example, a welcome and about page on IWeb for my site and use a wordpress theme for the blog section? If so, how do I import the Iweb pages into the site?

    Thanks.

    John

  • You can’t really import, but what you can do is have iWeb pages as static pages in directories (as usual) and then have links to those pages in your wordpress theme. If your iWeb page is mysite.com/iweb.html then you just have a link to “/iweb.html” in your template.

On a somewhat related topic as this one. I am thinking of moving over to the .mac service , but want to use wordpress for blogging, but I am having troubles getting it to even work on my .mac (trial account).

Can anyone who has successfully done provide a detailed step by step on how they did it?

.Mac doesn’t provide MySQL or PHP, and you aren’t able to use FTP (only WebDav) with .Mac, so it isn’t possible to host a WordPress site through that service at this time.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I won’t strain my brain over this any longer!
