• I bought a theme and I start to customize my site straight on wordpress dashboard.
However I really want to get down and dirty with the code and so I downloaded MAMP so I can work on my site locally and then upload it live and its finished.

When I downloaded wordpress on MAMP I created a database and did everything, but two things:
After creating a database and logging in wordpress. I had a fresh new site. It was on a local server but not the site I had previously worked on.
Do I need to basically start over?

The other question is I can’t view my actual site locally, all I can see is the dashboard and the wordpress admin screen.

Also, should I delete MAMP altogether I ended up trying this several times along with wordpress and making several logins but to no avail, each time I had a fresh new site.

  • Hi SaudAA –

Did you import a copy of your site into your local MAMP install? Did you copy the theme in the /wp-content/themes/ folders on your local install?

You’ll need to take both of those steps in order to see your site on your local machine.
