Can I move WP 2.0.2 database to WP 2.2.1 database (5 posts)

    Hello,

I have an old WordPress 2.0.2 installation and database that is in production.

I have created a new WordPress 2.2.1 installation because I am revamping the website.

Both databases are on the same mySQL server.

    My questions are:

    1) Is the database structure for these two versions(2.0.2 & 2.2.1) the same?

    2) What can I do to get my data from the old into the new?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Is the domain changing for the 2.0.2 installation once it gets to be 2.2.1?

The domain will remain the same but the URL will be different.

    Current(2.0.2): http://www.hollydoodledesigns.com/WordPress
    New(2.2.1): http://www.hollydoodledesigns.com/shop

Make a backup copy of the files and database for both Current(2.0.2) and New(2.2.1) installations.

Rename the shop folder to shop.hold.

Upgrade Current(2.0.2) to 2.2.1, then follow the procedures in Moving WordPress. I'll refer to that as Current(2.2.1)

Then just take the files you created/customized in the New(2.2.1) makeover, which typically would just be things in wp-content (unless you modify core files), and put those in place in Current(2.2.1).

    1) It should be the same. I just upgraded to Getz myself.
    2) Backup your database, export and import (much easier said than done, but there are loads of instructions online if you google it). You can also see if someone will do it for your for 15 bucks on scriptlance.com

Sorry if this is too vague. I'm not much on a WP expert by any means, but I know everything you want to do is possible and has a correct set of procedures you need to follow.
